Lighthouse Schools: Lessons Learned
Agenda:
-
Lighthouse STAT Teacher Reflections on Year One
-
Q & A Session - What are you still wondering about?
Notes:
If I knew then what I know now ... some things to keep in mind as you plan for next year.
-
Go slow to go fast.
-
Set clear and specific expectations with your students.
-
Design your classroom space with your students. Always ask yourself, "Is this their space or my space?"
-
Always test everything with a student log in before you try it with your students.
-
Independent work should be purposeful. What type of feedback and/or data do you get from each assignment? What data are you using to inform your instructional decisions and assignments?
-
Free choice should be more choice and less "free."
-
Model digital citizenship by example ... what are your digital behaviors teaching your students?
-
Work smarter, not harder ... use technology to maximize teacher efficiency.
Other things to keep in mind ... don't forget that ...
-
It's okay to deviate from the norm.
-
Tech isn't always best.
-
Don't do it alone ... collaboration is key.
-
It's okay to be where you are ... but it's not okay to stay there.
-
It's all about teaching and learning!
